General Tips:

Always wipe the CD from the center outward with stratight spoke-like strokes. Wiping CDs in circles will create more scratches.

Do not scratch the graphics layer as you cannot repair the disc.
HINT: Hold the disc up to a light with the graphics layer facing the light source. If you can see light thru the scratches at any point then the disc may be irreparable and or exhibit loading or playing errors.

Clean your Disc players lens regularly with a suitable product to ensure optimal viewing pleasure.

Make sure to use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean both sides of the disc. Wipe in a straight line from the centre of the disc to the outer edge.

If wiping with a cloth does not remove a fingerprint or smudge, use a specialized DVD disc polishing spray to clean the disc.

Only handle the disc by its outer edge and the empty hole in the middle.

Change the title bar to read Windows Media Player provided by , so if I had entered text MAYANK , it would read: Windows Media Player provided by MAYANK.

How to hide a file in a image

1. Gather the file you wish to bind, and the image file, and place them in a folder. For the sake of this demonstration, I will be using C:\New Folder
-The image will hereby be referred to in all examples as fluffy.jpg
-The file will hereby be referred to in all examples as New Text Document.txt

2. Add the file/files you will be injecting into the image into a WinRar .rar or .zip. From here on this will be referred to as (secret.rar)

3. Open command prompt by going to Start > Run > cmd

4. In Command Prompt, navigate to the folder where your two files are by typing
cd location [ex: cd C:\New Folder]

5. Type [copy /b fluffy.jpg + secret.rar fluffy.jpg] (remove the brackets)

Congrats, as far as anyone viewing is concerned, this file looks like a JPEG, acts like a JPEG, and is a JPEG, yet it now contains your file.

In order to view/extract your file, there are two options that you can take

a) Change the file extension from fluffy.jpg to fluffy.rar, then open and your file is there.
b) Leave the file extension as is, right click, open with WinRar and your file is there.

Hide the Text Below Desktop Icons

Some icons you use so regularly that you don’t need that annoying text below the icon. A good example of this is Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. We all know what those icons look like. To remove that text, just follow these instructions.

Right-click on the shortcut icon, and choose Rename. Now hold down the Alt key and type in 255 on the keypad to the right of the keyboard. You can’t use the number keys right above the keyboard. The way this works is that the Alt+255 character is blank, so the shortcut filename is actually just named with a character that is completely blank. Change the Default Directory of Software Installation

You may want to change the location of your system default folder (C:\Program Files) from C drive to another system drives (D or E drive). By default software setup will attempt to install program in C:\Program Files directory. It is good practice to make the backup of the installed programs, if you installed all your programs in other than C drive. If you have little knowledge about editing windows registry then you can configure your computer for this purpose.

Follow the given steps to configure windows registry:

1. Click on Start button then type Regedit in Run option.

Increase the Speed in Which Firefox loads pages!

1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter.
(Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)

To convert a FAT partition to NTFS, perform the following steps.

Click on Start

Click on RUN

Type CMD

How to hide a .rar in a jpeg file

1. Get your .rar file and put it in the same directory as a jpeg picture (c:\hidden is a good place to put it)

Editing Windows thru Explorer.exe

Explorer.exe is the file that controls almost the entire look, feel and functioning of the Windows Operating System. It is the file that holds the key to customizing Windows completely to suit one’s personal preferences and likes. It is also possible to edit the explorer.exe file by following these steps:


1. The first step before starting to edit the explorer.exe file is to restart the computer in the command line mode. So restart ur computer

2. Once u hav restarted the system in the command line mode, u should be in the same working directory as the explorer.exe file, which is generally the Windows root directory.

3. Open the explorer.exe file in the MSDOS editor with the help of /70 parameter which basically means that the editor window shall open with 70 columns on each line:

4. The explorer.exe file shall now open in a blue screen containing large amounts of unrecognizable characters an a few recognizable characters as well. For each character that is displayed in the screen, the corresponding value and Line numbers are displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

5. Scroll down and edit those parts of the explorer.exe file that contain recognizable text, in order to edit a variety of different aspects of the look & feel of the Windows Operating system. Although editing is not too difficult, it is also handy to keep the following facts in mind: May 24 TriX masTer
a) Ensure that the total no. of characters in the explorer.exe file must always remain the same to avoid corruption of the operating system. Hence one must remain very careful against accidental deletion, modification or addition while editing the file.

b) The explorer.exe file has a number of spaces throughout its body. However, it is important to note that these spaces are different from the spaces normally created by the spacebar. The value of the explorer.exe space is 0, while the value of the space created by the spacebar is 32.

c) Each ampersand sign (&) in explorer.exe signifies that the next character in the file shall appear underlined in the Windows operating system and is commonly used as a keyboard shortcut to execute that particular option.

d) Normally, wen u right click on the Windows desktop taskbar, a pop up context menu containing various options (like Properties, Always on top, Auto hide) r displayed on the screen. It is possible to modify the context menu by scrolling down to the 1300 – 1400 lines of the explorer.exe file.

e) To edit the context menu options that appear wen u right click on the Clock present at the bottom right corner of the screen, scroll down to the lines starting at 2300.

f) To edit start menu options including the text that appears on the Start button, scroll down to the lines starting at 2300.

There exists many tools for recovering these passswords from their stored places. Using these tools and an USB pendrive you can create your own rootkit to hack passwords from your friend’s/college Computer. We need the following tools to create our rootkit.

MessenPass: Recovers the passwords of most popular Instant Messenger programs: MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ Lite 4.x/2003, AOL Instant Messenger provided with Netscape 7, Trillian, Miranda, and GAIM.
Mail PassView: Recovers the passwords of the following email programs: Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook 2000 (POP3 and SMTP Accounts only), Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003 (POP3, IMAP, HTTP and SMTP Accounts), IncrediMail, Eudora, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Group Mail Free. Mail PassView can also recover the passwords of Web-based email accounts (HotMail, Yahoo!, Gmail), if you use the associated programs of these accounts.

PasswordFox: PasswordFox is a small password recovery tool that allows you to view the user names and passwords stored by Mozilla Firefox Web browser. By default, PasswordFox displays the passwords stored in your current profile, but you can easily select to watch the passwords of any other Firefox profile. For each password entry, the following information is displayed: Record Index, Web Site, User Name, Password, User Name Field, Password Field, and the Signons filename.
Here is a step by step procedre to create the password hacking toolkit.
NOTE: You must temporarily disable your antivirus before following these steps.

Download all the 5 tools, extract them and copy only the executables(.exe files) into your USB Pendrive. ie: Copy the files - mspass.exe, mailpv.exe, iepv.exe, pspv.exe and passwordfox.exe into your USB Drive.

Now your rootkit is ready and you are all set to hack the passwords. You can use this pendrive on your friend’s PC or on your college computer. Just follow these steps

Insert the pendrive and the autorun window will pop-up. (This is because, we have created an autorun pendrive).
In the pop-up window, select the first option (Perform a Virus Scan).
Now all the password hacking tools will silently get executed in the background (This process takes hardly a few seconds). The passwords get stored in the .TXT files.
Remove the pendrive and you’ll see the stored passwords in the .TXT files.
This hack works on Windows 2000, XP and Vista

Go to Start -> Run - Type regedit and press enter - On the left hand side tree, navigate to

The value DefaultColor controls the foreground and background colors used in command prompt windows. It has a default value of 0, for standard white text on a black background.

Slightly more work needed if you lose or forget the Windows XP administrator password.

1.First reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up.

2.Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes - I have just used quotes to differentiate what you have to type.

3.You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.

4.Just click the administrators user account, and then click Reset Password.

5.You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.


All done, you have recovered the lost adminitrators password!

Windows XP uses a system called 'prefetch' to organize and preload some of the data necessary for commonly used applications and files. A folder called prefetch is used to store the information the operating system needs to carry out this operation.
After several months of use, the prefetch folder may become quite overloaded with older references to software and files that may no longer be in use.It's a good idea to manually empty the older files out of the prefetch folder every few months or so.
To do this: Navigate to 'c:\windows\prefetch' and delete all .
PF files that are older than a week or two.
